01. Who we are

In plain terms: WorkinParent is the app. WorkinParent, Inc. is the company behind it, and we’re the ones responsible for your data.

This Privacy Policy explains how WorkinParent, Inc. ("WorkinParent," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the WorkinParent application and website at workinparent.com (together, the "Service").

WorkinParent is a planning tool for working parents. It helps a parent see the week ahead, catch scheduling conflicts early, keep track of the tasks tied to family events, and share the details a caregiver needs. For questions about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@workinparent.com.

WorkinParent is currently offered to users in the United States. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

02. Information we collect

In plain term: We collect three kinds of information: what you give us, what comes from your Google account when you connect it, and basic technical data your device sends automatically.

We collect what you give us, which includes account details; child and family profiles; care details; contacts; events and tasks; uploaded photos, forms, voice recordings, or dictated text; support messages; Google Sign-In details; and Google Calendar events when you enable calendar sync. We collect limited device, app, regional IP, usage, and diagnostic information only to keep the Service running, secure, and free of bugs.

Information you give us

Account details: Your name, email address, and password or sign-in method when you create an account
Child & family profiles: The names, nicknames, ages or grades, schools, and activities you add for each child in your household
Care details: Notes you choose to add, such as pickup and drop-off instructions, routines, and other notes
Contacts: Emergency contacts and other people you add (for example, a grandparent, babysitter, or co-parent), including their names and contact details
Events & tasks: The events, schedules, reminders, and to-do items you create or that the Service generates from your input
Uploaded content: Photos of flyers, forms, and documents you upload, and voice recordings or dictated text you use to add events quickly
Support & feedback: Messages you send us, survey responses, and anything you share when you contact support

Information from Google (when you connect it)
You sign in with Google, and we encourage you to connect your Google Calendar — it's the best way to experience WorkinParent. With your calendar connected, the app can see your work and personal commitments alongside your family's events, so it can build one clear weekly picture and catch conflicts before they become a problem. Connecting is your choice, and you can disconnect at any time.

Google permissions and synchronization.
When you connect Google, we request access to your Google profile, calendar list, and Google Calendar events. We use your calendar list to show available calendars and import events only from calendars you enable. If you choose two-way sync, WorkinParent may create, update, or delete events in the selected Google calendar at your direction. We store encrypted OAuth credentials so synchronization can continue until you revoke access.

When you connect Google, we receive:

Google Sign-In: your name, email address, language preference, and profile picture, and a Google account identifier used to recognize your account.
Google Calendar: the calendar events, dates, times, titles, and related details we use to build your weekly view and detect conflicts with your family's schedule.

We ask only for the Google permissions the Service needs to work, and you can disconnect Google at any time (see Your rights & choices). How we handle Google data is described in detail in Section 04.

Information collected automatically
We collect limited technical information when you use the Service: device type, operating system, app version, general location from your IP address (city or region level), and basic usage and diagnostic logs. We use this only to keep the Service running, secure, and free of bugs — not to identify you personally. See Cookies for more.

03. How we use your information

In plain terms: We use your information to run the app and make it useful to you, nothing more. We don't use it to advertise to you or sell your data.

We use the information we collect to:

Provide the Service: import and organize your calendars into one unified family view, generate tasks from events, surface your weekly priorities, and detect scheduling conflicts
Send you the reminders, conflict alerts, and notifications you've set up
Create and manage caregiver share links when you choose to make one
Understand school flyers, forms, and voice input you provide so we can turn them into events and tasks
Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and fix bugs
Respond to your questions and provide support
Improve the Service and develop new features, using information in a limited and privacy-protective way (see Section 06)
Understand how the Service is used through aggregated or de-identified information. When we look at data internally to learn how WorkinParent is working, we use information that does not identify you or your family wherever we can
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your information — including any Google user data — to serve you advertising or for advertising purposes of any kind.

04. Google user data & Limited Use

In plain terms: Anything we get from your Google account is used only to give you features inside WorkinParent. We don't sell it, we don't advertise it, and people don't read it except in the narrow cases below.

WorkinParent's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In practice, this means:

We use Google user data (your Google profile and, if connected, your Google Calendar) only to provide and improve features that are visible to you inside WorkinParent, such as your calendar view and conflict detection.
We do not transfer Google user data to others except as necessary to provide or improve those features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with your explicit consent.
We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
We do not allow humans to read your Google user data, unless: (a) you give us specific permission, such as when requesting support; (b) it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse); (c) it is required to comply with applicable law; or (d) the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
We do not use Google user data to develop, train, or improve generalized or standalone artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

You can review and remove WorkinParent's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account permissions, or by disconnecting Google inside the app.

05. How we share your information

In plain terms — We don't sell your data and we don't share your family's information with outside companies for their own purposes. The only sharing is what's needed to run the Service, what you ask for, or what the law requires.

We share information only in these limited situations:

Service providers. We use trusted vendors to host and operate the Service, which stores your data on our behalf. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us, under contract, and may not use it for their own purposes.
AI Providers. When you request an AI-powered feature, relevant information may be processed by our AI/model service providers to generate the requested result.
People you choose. When you create a caregiver share link or invite someone to a shared view, the information you select is shared with the people you choose. You control what is included and who receives it.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or WorkinParent.
Business transfers. If WorkinParent is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Google user data will only be transferred in this way with your explicit consent, consistent with Google's Limited Use rules.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your or your children's personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising.

06. Automated processing

In plain terms: The app uses automated tools to read flyers and voice notes and turn them into events. Your family's and children's information is not sold, and is not used to train outside AI models.

To provide features like reading a school flyer, understanding voice input, and suggesting the tasks tied to an event, the Service uses automated processing. When we use technology to help with this:

We use it only to deliver features you see and use inside WorkinParent.
We do not use your family's or children's personal information, or your Google user data, to train generalized or third-party AI models.
We aim to keep sensitive family and child information within our own controlled environment and do not save it to outside services for their own use.

Protecting your family's information is a core commitment for us, not an afterthought. We regularly review our systems and practices to make sure your data — especially anything about your children — is never used to train AI models. If that ever needs to change, we will tell you and update this policy first.

The Service supports your decisions rather than making them for you. It surfaces suggestions and flags conflicts, but it does not change your schedule or take actions on your behalf without your approval.

07. How long we keep your information

In plain terms: We keep your information while your account is active, and delete it when you close your account or ask us to. You can request full erasure at any time.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Caregiver share link data is removed when the link expires or is revoked.

Requesting full deletion. You can ask us to remove all of the personal information we hold about you and your family from our servers at any time — even without closing your account — by emailing privacy@workinparent.com with the subject line "Delete my data." We will confirm your request and permanently erase your information from our active systems within 30 days, and from routine backups shortly afterward, keeping only the limited records the law requires us to retain. Deleting your account does not automatically delete information controlled by another family member. If you have connected Google, deleting your data also ends our access to it.

08. How we protect your information

In plain terms: We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hosting on secure infrastructure (Google Cloud). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your information, we will notify you as required by law, and as soon as we are reasonably able after we become aware of the situation.

09. Your rights & choices

In plain terms: You can see, fix, or delete your data, turn off notifications, and disconnect Google, all on your own.

You can:

Access and update your account and family information in the app.
Delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@workinparent.com. Deleting your account removes your personal information as described in Section 07.
Erase all your data from our servers, even without closing your account, by emailing privacy@workinparent.com with the subject line "Delete my data." We complete these requests within 30 days (see Section 07).
Disconnect Google by removing WorkinParent's access in your Google Account permissions or by disconnecting inside the app. This immediately stops WorkinParent from being able to access your Google account.
Manage notifications in your settings, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in those emails.

10. California privacy rights

In plain terms: If you live in California (or another US state with a privacy law), you have specific rights over your data. We honor them, just reach out.

California

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of your personal information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@workinparent.com.

Residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws may have similar rights, which we honor where they apply.

Privacy laws are always evolving. As new laws take effect or existing ones change, we will keep this policy current and continue to honor the rights that apply to you. If you have a right under your local law that isn't listed here, contact us and we will still help you exercise it.

11. Cookies & similar technologies

In plain terms: We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how the app is used. We don't use them for advertising.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the Service secure, and understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We do not use advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly without them.

12. Changes to this policy

In plain terms: If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify you through the Service or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
